Unlocking Mobility, Restoring Function:
At Good Craft Physical Therapy, we’re proud to offer Active Release Technique (ART)—the gold standard in soft tissue care since 1984. ART is a highly specialized therapy designed to treat muscle, tendon, ligament, and fascia issues caused by overuse, injury, or chronic tension. Whether you're dealing with restricted movement, pain, or adhesions, ART works to break up those tight areas, restoring proper function and improving your quality of life.
How ART works:
Active Release Technique targets the root cause of your pain and discomfort by focusing on soft tissue dysfunction. During your session, Dr. Kate Gutekunst will conduct a comprehensive, hands-on movement assessment to identify areas of tightness, scar tissue, or muscle imbalances. Once pinpointed, we’ll apply hands-on pressure to the affected tissues while guiding your body through specific movements, all with precision and care.
Key Benefits of ART:
What to Expect During Your ART Session:
Each ART session is customized to your specific needs. Dr. Gutekunst will work with you to locate areas of dysfunction, applying targeted pressure while you move through various ranges of motion. This approach releases adhesions in the muscles and fascia, allowing your body to move more freely and without pain. The treatment is safe, effective, and tailored to your personal recovery goals.
Releasing Tension, Restoring Movement
Active Release Technique (ART) is a highly effective soft tissue therapy that targets muscles, tendons, and fascia to reduce pain, improve flexibility, and enhance overall movement. While originally developed for humans, ART’s principles can be expertly applied to horses—addressing tight muscles, scar tissue, and chronic stiffness to support better performance and healing.
How ART Helps Your Horse:
Key Benefits:
Common Areas of Treatment:
What to Expect During an ART Session:
In each session, Dr. Gutekunst will assess your horse’s muscle and fascia for areas of tension or discomfort. Using gentle palpation and targeted pressure, she will work with your horse to release tight muscles while encouraging them to move through specific ranges of motion. This approach ensures that the muscle is relaxed and fully releases, promoting healing and improved movement.
Whether your horse is recovering from injury, experiencing chronic muscle tightness, or simply needs a tune-up to enhance their performance, Active Release Technique can help them feel their best and perform at their peak.

At Good Craft Physical Therapy, our goal is to provide the highest-quality, most effective care to help you recover, reduce pain, and improve your overall health. While we wish healthcare could be universally accessible, we’ve chosen to operate on a cash-based model to better serve our patients. Traditional insurance and Medicare reimbursement structures often come with significant limitations—restricting the types of services we can offer, imposing conditions for coverage, and providing limited reimbursement for the care you deserve.
By offering services outside of insurance, we can focus on what truly benefits you: holistic, individualized treatment using the most appropriate, evidence-based techniques. This allows us to spend more time with you, focus on the root causes of your pain or injury, and offer treatments without the restrictions of insurance. We believe this approach provides better value, better outcomes, and the flexibility for you to receive the care you need, without compromise.
